A South Korean mechanical contractor is turning itself into a one-stop data center builder by adding power and automation gear from Schneider Electric to its existing cooling portfolio.
What happened
CK Solution, a Korean company whose core expertise is HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems built for semiconductor cleanrooms and battery dry rooms, announced it has signed an agreement to become an authorised distributor for Schneider Electric in Korea. Under the deal, CK Solution will sell and provide technical support for Schneider Electric’s AI data centre product range, including switchgear (electrical switching apparatus), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), transformers, automation systems, digital twins (a real-time software replica of physical infrastructure), and DCIM (data centre infrastructure management) software. The agreement extends CK Solution’s reach from cooling-only contracts into full power infrastructure — the other half of a data centre’s critical systems. CK Solution already holds a 9.2 billion won (approximately US $6.7 million) contract signed in June 2026 with Hanwha Systems to build cooling facilities and a BMS (building management system); that contract runs through March 2027. The company set up a dedicated data centre business division last year and counts telecoms and ICT firms among its customers. It also holds a separate HVAC partnership with LG Electronics.
Why Korea does it this way
Korea’s data centre market has historically been fragmented: HVAC specialists, power specialists and IT integrators operated separately, each winning a slice of each project. As AI-driven facilities demand much higher power densities — requiring cooling and power systems to be co-designed rather than bolted together — contractors that can supply both are winning larger, longer contracts. Schneider Electric is already embedded in Korea’s AI infrastructure through its involvement in SK Telecom’s SK AI Data Centre in Ulsan, and through joint development work with Nvidia on high-density GPU (graphics processing unit) cooling and power. Becoming an authorised distributor gives CK Solution access to that certified product stack without building it from scratch.
What it means for you
Investors: CK Solution is listed on the Korean stock exchange (KOSDAQ). This distributor agreement expands its addressable market from cooling-only contracts to integrated power-plus-cooling bids. The existing Hanwha Systems contract (9.2 billion won, running to March 2027) provides near-term revenue visibility; the Schneider pipeline is not yet quantified in public disclosures. No investment advice is implied — check current filings for order backlog and margin figures.
Supply chain: Schneider Electric’s UPS, switchgear and DCIM products will now move through CK Solution’s sales and service network in Korea. Companies tendering data centre projects in Korea may find CK Solution bidding on power infrastructure scopes it previously could not address. The Ulsan connection (Schneider + SK Telecom) signals that provincial sites — where grid capacity is less constrained than in the Seoul metro area — are a key growth corridor.
Residents and electricity consumers: This deal does not directly affect household electricity tariffs. However, large AI data centres are significant power draws; the broader trend of shifting new facilities to provinces with spare grid capacity (away from Seoul, where new grid connections are now rationed) is shaping where jobs and infrastructure investment land.
Watch next
- The Hanwha Systems cooling contract concludes in March 2027 — watch whether CK Solution announces a follow-on or expanded scope that includes Schneider Electric power equipment, which would be the first concrete proof the distributor deal converts into integrated project wins.
- SK Telecom’s SK AI Data Centre Ulsan project (date of completion not yet publicly set — decided by SK Telecom’s capital expenditure schedule) is a live reference site for Schneider Electric in Korea; any capacity expansion announcement there would validate demand for the product line CK Solution now distributes.
- If CK Solution files a material contract disclosure (공시, gongsi — a mandatory Korean stock exchange filing triggered when a contract exceeds a set threshold relative to revenue), that will be the first auditable signal of the distributor agreement generating orders; monitor the DART (Data Analysis, Retrieval and Transfer System — Korea’s public corporate disclosure platform) filing feed for CK Solution’s ticker.
